Six Steps to get Date Night Ready

Earlier this month my boyfriend & I celebrated six years together. In honour of that, I’m sharing my Six Steps to get Date Night Ready.

So to celebrate, we spent the day before in Reading shopping, eating, drinking cocktails & generally enjoying each other’s company. And our actual anniversary, we had a much needed day at the spa.

It was dreamy!

But let’s get to the steps…

Six Steps to get Date Night Ready

1. Exfoliate.

I don’t know about you but personally when my skin is feeling good then I feel so much more comfortable and confident. Exfoliating your whole body will mean that any products that you apply afterwards will really get to work. Moisturiser will absorb quicker, makeup will apply smoother & generally, you’ll just feel bomb.

2. Shave.

Personally, I hardly ever get my legs out purely because I’m too lazy to shave my legs on the regular. But since it was a special occasion, I decided to make the effort. Lately, I’ve really been loving coconut oil for shaving because not only does it mean the razor will glide over your legs super smoothly it’s also a great timesaver. It does wonders for your skin and leaves them feeling super soft and hydrated. So if you’re a lazy girl like me, this is the perfect solution.

3. Hair.

If it’s not already obvious, I kind of use date night as an excuse to pamper myself (not that you need an excuse, ladies – as I’ve mentioned before here). Step three is getting my hair to behave, which for me is a great conditioning treatment. Depending on what my hairs doing this could mean different things and hopefully, I’ll share some of my specific favourite products or recipes soon. After a good condition, I usually use something super hydrating and also something to hold my curls. Miss Jessie’s Jelly Soft Curls is my favourite products for this I never go to America without picking up at least a couple of tubes.

4. Makeup.

My number one tip is to make sure you start off with a good base. I’m really enjoying Nars Sheer Glow applied with Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. I’d probably go for a look that you’ve tried out before. The last thing you need is to be running around last minute trying to redo your face because you’ve messed up your cut crease and now you just look like you’ve been in a fight. Unless that’s the look that you’re going for, you do you boo.

5. Outfit.

I decided to go with a co-ord top & skirt but you can wear whatever you’re comfortable in. Whatever you feel good and I’m whatever you think suits your body. Feeling like a bad bitch is the main thing, whatever that means to you. Which leads me onto…

6. Confidence.

Whether you’ve been dating for six days, six years or six decades, the one thing that will scream sexiness on a date is being confident. Sometimes this is easier said than done but I live by the motto of fake it till you make it. Honestly, just pretending that you feel confident is the quickest way to becoming more confident. This is really the only tip you need for a date night look, (but that wouldn’t have made for a very long blog post so I threw a few extra suggestions in there) you could rock up in sweatpants and a stained T-shirt & still kill it if you’re confident enough. Well, maybe not but you catch my drift.
